The Maples Juventus StarsMJ Stars is a collection of talented and well rounded female athletes who wish to play soccer at a competitive level within a fun and social atmosphere. The Stars team is currently in their third season in the Winnipeg Women's Soccer League. With the help of our sponsors we look forward to a long and successful existence.OriginsThe origin of this team goes back to 1996 at Tyndall Park Community Club. A group of 9 year old girls began playing together and went to the City Championships in their first year. Since that time the team has had regular competitive success. In 2002, when the original group of girls were 15 years old, the team became the North West Stars, competing as one of the first and oldest Regional teams in the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association. Upon turning 18 and becoming adults the team joined the Maples Juventus organization and added players from other age categories to become the team it is today.Year OneAs a new team to the league in 2005, the Stars won the Fifth Division handily, losing only 2 games all year, the final game of the regular season after having clinched the League title, and the championship final of the WWSL tournament.Year TwoIn their second year of existence, the Maples Juventus Stars were the runners up in the Second Division, earning promotion to First Division for the 2007 season. This team has competed in 2 Indoor seasons to date, competing in the Second division and have finished top 3 both years. |
